I ve been painting for a many, many years.... on small pieces of paper, on large and small canvases, in notebooks, on packaging and scrap bits of paper... I paint and draw with charcoal, oil and dry pastels, pencils, watercolors, acrylics. I also use mixed media and make collages.  

 

The process of painting and spending time with colors, both in and on my hands, relaxes and energizes me.  

For a long time, the final result was not important.

The important thing was to enter into a world of colors and shapes and to create,  a semi-meditative process. I used to throw these creations into the waste bin, or I would keep it under my bed or in the wardrobe until it would eventually be so wrecked  it would end up in the waste bin too.

 

In the mid-nineties, two good friends asked me not throw out my paintings but to give them to them instead.

That was a start of a new phase. I would paint and share the results as gifts to friends around me. But suddenly I found myself struggling with  self-criticism and very high criteria on what is good and what is not. It took practice to learn how to decide what to give as presents and what to throw away.

 

For a period of a few years I went through total “withdrawal" from painting. And then, all of a sudden, I experienced a new avalanche of creative urge.  This brought back the ease about art and creativity from before. Some intuitive feeling that this is all just a play and you cannot go wrong .

 

My favorite days are those days when I switch off the phone, make coffee, turn on the music, set up an easel with a canvas, spread out the paints and paint, dance, paint, sit and watch , wait, rest , observe, paint ... and just as I turn around, I realize that a few hours have passed.

 

As I had accumulated really quite a few paintings in our apartment, I've started with the my new step - selling art.
